KNEE DEEP IN CHICKENS

We’ve done field examinations on many types of inventory from autos, to precious metals, as well as household and business assets.  However, nothing so far has been quite like our experience on the chicken farm.  It was not a pleasant job, but someone had to do it!

We first had to figure out how to get the chickens into an area where they could be accurately counted.  This meant going into their territory.  The suggestion that we all rent chicken costumes was discussed, but we felt that 200-pound chickens in the roost would hinder, rather than help, us accomplish our goal.
Once we were outfitted in appropriate gear, including knee-high fishing boots, we proceeded to set up barriers to corral the chicken.  This was no easy task in massive chicken coops up to 300 ft. long and 100 ft. wide.  Next we pushed them through one end of the barrier to the other and counted them as they came through.  Time consuming, and painstakingly slow, but it was the only way to do the job.  It was quite a scene with flying, squawking chickens and grown men wincing at the overwhelming smell and the chicken waste we had to navigate.

Although field examiners may not generally be thought of as "heroes", we sure saved the day at the chicken farm!
